I'm not a big fan of dates. I'm not a big fan of Prosciutto.
I love almonds... so why would I want to ruin them by mixing them with two other ingredients I don't have any desire to eat? Because the combination, once cooked, is absolutely MIND BLOWING. These are addictive. You can't just have one, so make sure you make plenty! These are perfect appetizers for any party or gathering, they are easy to eat with your fingers and they're real crowd pleasers. Make them earlier in the day, then pop them in the oven just as your guests are arriving and then you can just keep rolling them out as people get into the swing of things. Serving them hot from the oven is highly recommend, that's what makes them so successful! Watch the video here: (or keep reading for written instructions)
Ingredients:
Medjool dates
Almonds
Parma Ham
Note: for every slice of Parma Ham you will need two almonds and two dates, all you have to do is multiply it up to how ever many you're going to need... or have the patience making.
How to:
1. Using scissors, remove rind from the Prosciutto and cut each slice in half lengthwise.
2. If not already unpitted, remove the stones from the dates with a sharp knife by carefully cutting along the date and then removing the stone.
3. Place an almond in the centre of the date where the stone used to sit and close the date.
4. Wrap the almond-stuffed date with a half-slice of Parma ham.
5. Line up on a lined oven tray, making sure to place the end of the ham facing down so it doesn’t unravel during cooking.
6. Place the oven tray the centre of an oven that has been pre-heated to 180°C (350F) for 10 minutes.
7. Enjoy and share with friends!
